| We bought the existing business from the previous owner, Jean Dench.
Jean began by meeting up with a Lincoln band, the Saved, who were looking for support. This got her out there and she gradually realised she could pick up her old dream of having rehearsal rooms and maybe one day a recording studio.
She was asked to set up a jam night in Metheringham, Lincolnshire and through this made new contacts and this re-enforced the idea that bands were out there looking for places to “blood let”.
Visiting other jam nights and making contacts led to the first band booking the 'Band of Frogs' rehearsal room and it just went on from there.
And so Metheringham Music Factory was born.
Jean applied for and obtained planning permission to improve and add rehearsal rooms. Overnight accommodation in a converted barn was a later phase.
The Red Room is ideal for recording and is available for hire by mobile recording engineers. Not only do bands record themselves but this facility has already been used by Zen (Nik Fox) and James Pudney (Lincoln Bands Podcast). The Blue Room is a purpose-built soundproofed rehearsal room which was added later.
The rooms can be used for other purposes because the setting lends itself to poets, walkers, activities organised by campers, etc.
The possibilities of development in many directions are endless and we would like to go to those places. |
